Talented developer Denys Dovhan has given us a breath of fresh air - literally! They've recently launched an air purifier card (or simply known as Purifier Card) for the Home Assistant Dashboard. The thermostat card has been a household name in the Home Assistant community for a while, and the Purifier Card clearly draws inspiration from it. This nifty Purifier Card shows you the status of your air purifier and even allows you to control it via several presets.

Within the card, there are options to select presets (auto, full, 3/4, half, 1/4, and night mode) as well as a switch to turn the air purifier on and off. There are also statistics showing how long the filter has to live, the current motor speed, and the air quality measured by the air purifier.

How to install the Purifier Card

As with most community additions to the Home Assistant Dashboard, the Purifier Card is available in the Home Assistant Community Store (HACS). Simply search for Purifier Card and it should pop up. If the card seems elusive, simply add the following repository to HACS and you will be able to find it: https://github.com/denysdovhan/purifier-card

Now, if for some unfathomable reason you don't have HACS installed (seriously, give it a whirl) or you're not in the mood to install it, you can still manually get the card into your system. The step-by-step guide for this is right on the GitHub page.

Setting up your Home Assistant Purifier Card

There's a smorgasbord of configuration options at your disposal, all listed in the documentation. Beyond the basic information, like which air purifier you're aiming to control, there are a few customisations you can fiddle with. For instance, I wasn't a fan of the animation and felt the card was a bit of a space hog, so I switched the compact_view to true.

Which air purifiers does Home Assistant support?

Since the Air Purifier custom card was released, it's been tested and proven to work with a variety of air purifiers. The developer initially wrote the code for their Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier, but it took a bit of time for feedback to come in about other models. So far, the Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 3 and 2 series, the Coway Airmega 300S/400S (with the IoCare custom component), Dyson Pure Humidify+Cool, and Winix AM90 Wi-Fi Air Purifier have all been confirmed to be working with the card.
