ESPHome will support the Wi-Fi enabled Raspberry Pi Pico W
ESPHome might soon have to change its name, as support for the Raspberry Pi Pico W is coming. It retains the RP2040 and 40-pin GPIO, but adds 802.11n Wi-Fi.
Release date: June, 2022
The Raspberry Pi Pico W is a wireless-enabled board based on the RP2040, offering a range of connectivity options including 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2. It features two ARM Cortex-M0+ cores clocked at 133MHz, 256 KB RAM, 30 GPIO pins, and a wide variety of interfacing options. Additionally, it comes with 2 MB of onboard QSPI Flash memory for storing code and data. The inclusion of an Infineon CYW43439 wireless chip facilitates the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities of the board.
